Armanda Edwards-Newman

Armand Edwards-Newman is my full name. However, most people just call me Mandy. I am the second oldest of 8 siblings. There are six girls and three boys with extremely different personalities. I have one brother who is now deceased. From a very young age, I have been deemed as the creative child. Of course I have been labeled as other things as well, but I won’t mention them. As a family, we all get along very well, as long as we are not under the same roof for an extended amount of time. An extended amount of time would be more than one day.

I currently reside in Martinez, California where I love and cherish my husband and two boys. They keep my life very dynamic. If I am not sleeping, eating or bathing, I am usually doing one or more of the following activities: cooking, cleaning, packing, traveling, potty training, exercising, playing, teaching, gardening, reading bed time stories and most importantly, breathing! Everything else I haven’t mentioned I consider as being an absolute luxury, which includes my job, the one that I receive monetary compensation for performing. 4 days a week I commute approximately 100 miles round trip from Martinez to San Jose, California where I work as an Internet Systems Analyst. Although, I feel the title Superwoman would be more fitting.

I have had an array of occupational experiences. I have worked in commercial and residential construction where I have performed secretarial and accounting functions. I have worked in the medical industry as a DBA. I have worked in Retail for various types of merchants. I have worked in the educational arena facilitating student services such as housing, employment & counseling. I have even had my own freelance business as a calligrapher. Although, I must admit, my most satisfying employment experience has been working with art students. They are undoubtedly creative, but more importantly they tend to have a very uplifting and weightless spirit as if they can do anything, go anywhere or be anyone they so desire.

Moving on to my spare time, I have several interests that I occasionally call hobbies. I enjoy calligraphy-writing, script writing, painting, sketching, interior decorating, sewing, hairstyling and a variety of things that call for creative design. I enjoy building projects such as computers, furniture, model trains, planes and automobiles. You might think that my life has reach its maximum capacity with all of the activities I have mentioned thus far, but unbelievably, there is yet one activity that remains; my education.

I call my pursuit of education a journey. I have been in school for as long as I can remember and I don’t see the end of the road, only “forks in the road”. Being a student is something that I am very familiar with. I love to learn and I believe that is what keeps me going. I have just recently earned my MBA through Regis University and it gives me great Joy!
