Today's Featured Biography
Bob Johnson
I was born at Alta Bates hospital in Berkeley.
I have two sisters and a brother. I goofed off in school for the most part, and kept a low profile. I barely squeaked through school, repeating the 11th grade at Ells in 63 and transferring to DeAnza in October of 64. I attended Lincoln Elementary, Roosevelt jr. High, Ells, and finally, briefly, DeAnza.
I joined the Navy after graduation and got booted out of Electronics school at Treasure Island. I wound up as a Radarman on an LST (Landing Ship,Tank) did two tours of Vietnam on her while homeported in Guam.
I injured my right knee, had surgery in the Phillipines, and after a brief stay at Oaknoll Naval Hospital in Oakland, I was shipped back to Vietnam on an amphibious group command ship. It was much bigger and carried an admiral and a detachment of Marines. N0 more mud, danger(shooting), and the food was much better.
I went to College (CCC, DVC, and SCC) and earned AA degrees in computer science and accounting. I carried a 3.95...go figure!
Now I'm just retired but my wife works. I still enjoy lunching with my brother in San Pablo every month, so I'm in touch with the area.
I neglected to say that I retired from Mare Island after 17 years as an Electronics Mechanic. I worked in Ocean Engineering Electronics. I'd like to write a book, but because I have essential tremor, typing is a chore. It may be an agent orange thing because I already have had the prostate cancer, and the diabetes...both at an earlier than normal age. I have also driven a Zamboni at the local Ice Center which was fun.
I am active in the ACS Relay for Life every year to help support finding a cure for cancer. Well, this is as much frustration as I can handle for now...more later./

Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
