Today's Featured Biography
Randa Fast Medley
Hello to All,
Time sure flies! Left MMHS and attended UCSD, thinking psychology was the only way to go- graduated in 88 and realized one cannot do much with a psychology major/ sociology minor. Took a year off and enrolled in Philosophy, ceramics and dance, and then decided to go on to Grad school at San Diego State for my Masters and Pupil Personnel Credential (School Couseling). Graduated in 1993 and then in 1995 I finally got a job in City Schools as a Head Counselor in the Point Loma area- Correia Middle School- where I ran into Paul Swanson- math teacher extraordinaire- talk about small worlds.
During this time I got married to my sweetie, Bobby, who I had dated since 1985, and in 1996 we had our first child, Cole.
In 2000, a job opportunity opened up in my current district, and living only five minutes away, I jumped on the opportunity. 5 days after I had resigned my position in City schools, I found out I was pregnant with our second son Seth- surprise, surprise. Quite luckily, my Director was extremely workable and needless to say, I am so very happy to still be where I am at. The coolest thing is that I will be directly effecting my boys' education, once they enter our district- I am also about 5 minutes away from both their schools- so it is the best of all worlds.
I am so proud of all of our alumni, it was great seeing so many folks at the reunion. It was even more impressive to hear how many people went into education and are making a difference on a daily basis in the lives of our young people. I am so proud to know so many wonderful people- MMHS grads. are the best!
I am still in constant contact with Steve Willard and Robin Johnston and would love to connect with Glen OClaussen (aka Papa Smurf)!
