Today's Featured Biography
Cheryl Osburn -Adams
Pretty much followed the straight and narrow in high school, and so it was somewhat ironic that I attended college @ UC Santa Cruz. But I really found myself there; graduated in biology; worked a couple years in biotechnology in Los Angeles, and then did a master's degree in nutrition @ UC Davis. Stayed in the Sacto area, working as a dietitian for five years
Mixed in there, I met Greg @ UCSC, and after many years as friends, we eventually hooked up, marrying in 1986.
In 1991, Greg's work took us for what we thought would be just a couple years in Philadelphia. He loved his job; I found work I love in a big teaching hospital out here; our children (Nathan, now 18, and Margaret, now 14) came to regard this as home, and so here we have stayed. We love the sense of history, the seasons, and the reasonable real estate market/short commutes, but no one can understand why we ever left California.
We may love our jobs & our environment, but Greg & I believe our best work has been parenting these wonderful kids. The are happy, well adjusted, politically-aware and socially conscious. Nate attends college (and plays soccer every spare moment) in North Jersey. Meg sings all the time, hauls me to Broadway to see shows (which after growing up in Sonoma, feels like an out-of-body experience), and dreams of performing there someday herself.
I return to Sonoma as often as I can; my mom is still here, and thanks to the reunion, I feel now as though I have even more reasons to return & visit.
Great reunion, organizing committee. Thank you all!
