Betty Moore Stelmah

Married Larry (a 1959 Chaffey Grad) in August of '61, and we're still married to one another 43 years later.
Our children are commonly referred to as the 3 R's, Rick lives in Jefferson, LA with his Patricia; Renee and her three children live in Oro Valley, AZ; Russ and his Jennifer live in Phoenix,AZ.
Because I was right out of High School and untrained for work, and we had our first two children in '62 and '63, it was more economically sound for me to stay home and take care of children -- sometimes ones not my own, as well as my three. Also sewed, cut hair, and ironed when extra money was needed in the early days. After that much of my time was spent in volunteer organizations. PTA, Junion Women's Club; Little League Baseball, Ponytail Softball, and Pop Warner, as well as Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. All of it was fun but eventually wore me out and wore out a lot of my natural patience, too.
We moved from Ontario to San Diego County in 1979 due to General Dynamics transferring Larry there. Lived in Carlsbad for 16 years before Hughes (which had purchased G.D's missiles and Larry along with them) transferred us to Tucson. Larry worked for them and then for Raytheon (who bought all the missiles from Hughes) actively until June of 2003, had to then go on first short-term and then long term disability due to lung cancer. We're now spending our time relaxing with one another and going to doctor visits.
Spare time is sometimes spent sending reunion notices to various classes from the early days of Upland High.
Have 7 wonderful Grand Children. Six boys and one Lovely Princess.
Update - October 20, 2007
Most of you already know that there have
been changes in my life the past few years.
On January 08,2005 my husband died from his
lung cancer -- he is so VERY missed by all
of us and by many other people.
On October 11,2006 my only daughter, my
Renee died from cirrosis of the liver. She is
also VERY missed by her children, the rest of our family and many friends.
On December 15, 2006 my oldest Grandson,
oldest child of my daughter Renee, and I
became legal co-guardians of Renee's younger
two children. We four continue to live
in my home in Oro Valley, AZ.
