Today's Featured Biography
Leslie Roach Walden
I've come to realize my skill at typing has taken me to places I never planned to go. I was hired as a typist right out of high school by the publishers of World Book Encyclopedia. I held 3 more jobs as a typist until I was able to stay at home with our first child. We lived in Indianapolis while my husband was in dental school. I cared for 2-3 children to earn extra money. In 1966 we bought our first home in Arvada. In 1971 we bought a home on Squaw Pass in the shadow of Mount Evans. The children went to school in Idaho Springs. Commuting became a big issue as I enrolled in Women's Bible Study Fellowship and had to drive to Denver 2 times a week. I lost my desire to live in the mountains, so in 1976 we moved to Applewood. When the 4 children were all in school, I worked part-time in my husband's office.
Empty nest time in 1993 brought major changes. In November, 1994 we went to Romania on a medical/dental missions trip for one week. Before Christmas that year we knew we were to move there, so in June, 1995 we packed up and moved to Timisoara, Romania. Typing again came into play as we wrote a guide to the Colorado high country. It kept us in touch with our roots as we're both natives of Denver. It helped, too, as we dealt daily with unbelievable surroundings left by 70 years of Communist rule.
Monotony has never been a reality in my life as we packed up again, 4 suitcases this time, and moved back to Denver in June, 1996. Almost immediately we became involved with a ministry equipping people in disaster relief and evangelism. My husband went to Albania and Afghanistan with them. But I, you guessed it, typed on another manuscript for a book for the ministry.
Somehow I missed out on the 1999 Reunion. Sure glad to be in on this one. See you there!

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
