Today's Featured Biography
Richard Jackson
I attended Buchanan Elementary School through the 7th grade (1969), Buchanan High School in the 8th grade (1970), and was part of the very first freshman class of HCHS. Even though I moved to Cedartown, Ga in my senior year, the HCHS class of 1974 has still considered me a part of their class. For that I am very thankful.
Married in 1976, divorced in 1986, took care of my 3 daughters until I remarried in 1988.
I was blessed with two more children after that.
I now have three grandchildren: Katherine, age 6, Cameron, age 3, and Chase, age 2. There is also a player to be named later, due in September.
I have been working at Southwire Company since 1978, with a 2 year break when I thought I could be a furniture salesman.
Moved to Heflin AL in 1991, and to Ranburne in 2001.
I accepted Jesus Christ as my Savior in October 1997. I answered the call to preach in February, 2000, a few days before my wife's grandmother died. My first sermon was at her funeral. Ordained as Deacon by Vise Grove Baptist Church in 2002. Licensed by Vise Grove Baptist Church of Heflin, AL. on May 23, 2004.
My wife and I are active in our church's youth ministry.
I would like to thank Jenny Brown (now Evans) for helping me through the roughest time a lonely teenage boy could go through during the school year of 1974. Her words of encouragement and faith have stayed with me even today. Thank you and God bless you, Jenny.
