Today's Featured Biography
Susan Spell Tanner
I quit school to marry in November 1967 and moved to Kansas. I got my GED. I had my first daughter in Dec. of 1968, another in Apr. 1970. I divorced and married Ernie Hawkins,Jr. In Aug. 1973 we had Staci,and in June of 1976, we had a son, Marc. I went to Waycross-Ware Tech to become a LPN, and proudly graduated as a honor graduate. I again was divorced after 18 years, moved from Forsyth,Ga. back to Waycross. I met A.W.(Dub) and we have been happily married for 22 years. I have 7 grandchildren, and one great grand daughter. My family is my whole life. I retired from nursing in May of 2000 because my husband retired from Scapa after 44 years, and wanted us to get a 5th wheel and start camping. We have enjoyed getting to spend time together and do things we enjoy. I worked most of my nursing career in office settings and in the ER....my last few years were spent as a nurse in public health for the St. of Ga.
My oldest daughter,Candy, works in an office for a doctor. Dana,my 2nd daughter graduated from Mercer University (Macon)with a masters in marketing and management. Staci, my 3rd, will be student teaching 2nd grade this fall,at Wacona and will graduate in Dec. from Armstrong College. Marc, my son, attended Georgia Southern College and works for the City of Waycross,as Buildings and Codes Manager.
One of my grandsons,Clint, works for CSX. Another,works for Holiday Inn Express. And another is in his 2nd year at Georgia Southern. My oldest granddaughter graduates this year from Ware County High.
I have enjoyed reading bios on everyone. I still enjoy camping and we have met many new friends through hosting in Ga. State Parks. Life couldn't be better.
