Today's Featured Biography
CLAUD WILHITE
Born in Abilene, Texas. After living in Salt Lake City and Billings, MT., family moved to Twin Falls in 1949. Went first to Lincoln Elementary and then when we moved to Elm, went to Washington Elementary which is now gone. Graduated from TFHS in 1961 (had a great time in high school. Played in the band, pep band, marching band and in Senior year was a member of the Rubyats, a dance band put together by Brent Hodder). Received my BA from the U. of Idaho where I met my love of my life and best friend, Diana. Diana was from Cambridge. We married in 1965 and immediately moved to Lawrence, Kansas. I received my MA in 1967. Served in the U.S. Navy (had gone through ROTC at the UofI) for 5 years (Active duty) and eight years Reserve. Had some good tours and a few not so good. Worked for Governor Richard B. Ogilive (R-Illinois) for 3 years and then joined N.W. Ayer ABH International, an advertising/pr firm. Later went to Parker Pen Co., in Janesville, WI as the PR Director but 2 years later, Ayer made me an offer I couldn't refuse so rejoined them and moved to Phoenix. Our daughter, Shannon, was born in 1975 in Milwaukee, WI (I was with Ayer at that point). In 1978, we moved to Spokane, WA where I joined the ad/pr firm of Coons, Shotwell. When the market collapsed in 1980, I bought a Safeguard Business Systems franchise (1981) and have had that business now for almost 31 years. This year we are merging our business into another Safeguard distributorship and Diana and I will become semi-retired. Plan to do some traveling....and other things as they come up.
