Today's Featured Biography
Donna Bingham Floerchinger
It seems I haven't done a very good job of staying in touch with my DGN or grade school classmates, but would love to hear from anyone and everyone. After graduation, I attended Iowa State University in Ames where I met the love of my life. Linn and I married in 1974 and over the years have lived in DG, LaGrange, Riverside, Lincoln Park and since 1999 in Evanston. I finished my Business Degree at UICC.
My husband, Linn, is an architect specializing in health care design and until last year was a Partner in the Chicago firm, Matthei & Colin. He is now happily retired.
I was a Partner and CFO of the Chicago Architectural-Engineering firm, Teng & Associates, and will retire at the end of 2011 after 32 challenging and fun years.
We chose careers over children. I think we never quite felt we had grown up ourselves.
We had a real passion for rehabbing homes and building "second" homes in fun places like WI lakeside, Arizona desert, and in the Caribbean on both St. John and St. Croix. We've travelled alot, as well. I guess I can say its been a good life. We have certainly been blessed with good health.
I reflect fondly on my childhood in Downers Grove and regret not having contact with more of the kids I grew up with from Puffer, Belmont, and DGN in general. It seems like only yesterday, and while I still feel like a teenager, I know there are fewer years ahead than behind. Our early retirement is an attempt to bleed the turnip.
