Julie Shepley Posson

Alumni of IU (BS in Physical Education-82), Thanks to Kandi Haley's mom (long story), married Todd Posson (BHSS class of 75)in 83. He joined the Navy in 83 and we moved to Virginia for a year while he went to training schools for submarine duty. Moved to Connecticut in 85. Had Ashley here in Bloomington (Feb 85) while waiting for military housing to open up in Conn. Then had Erica while in Conn. Lived there for 7.5 yrs then got stationed to St Marys/Kingsland Georgia. Stayed there, raised the kids for 12 long years in the crazy south. While there I was a substitute teacher, swim coach, volunteered in many ways to help the families of submariners and with our church youth group. I eventually was an Aquatic Director for a recreation center.

Todd retired from the Navy in 2003, which was also the same year Ashley graduated High School. She chose to stay in Georgia and graduates May 08 from University of Georgia (go Dawgs). We moved to Bloomington with Erica in tow as a high school sophmore and insisted we move to the South district. Much to our surprise found out Jay True was her assistant principle. She is now a sophmore at IU (yeah-go Hoosiers). John (stepson)stayed in Bloomington and works for Tasus, however, is also in the National Guard and will be deployed to Iraq in Feb 08. He has two kids Jacob & Hailey. Being grandparents is the greatest - spoil them rotten and give them back!!

When we first moved back I worked for Monroe County YMCA as the Aquatic Coordinator, but discovered I am too old to be dealing with college workers that don't care about their lifeguard responsibilities. Now I coach swimming for Bloomington Swim Club and love it. I always loved it while in Georgia and this is a great team with lots of integrity. Both daughters were swimmers through high school and have been lifeguads/swim instructors since age 15. Erica worked for me at the Y and now works with me as a Coach.
