Today's Featured Biography
Diane Druck
Driver Training Class with Mr. Patacsil! The cardinal rule was that we could not open our mouths when we were not driving. My particular weakness was cutting corners short and driving over curbs and bushes, or overcompensating by turning wide into the oncoming lane of traffic. However, the most memorable day was when one driver turned right on the Cicott St. bridge from Washington St. Unfortunately, she kept the wheel turned right and we were headed straight off the bridge. The three of us in the back were white-knuckling the door handles and each other's arms and legs, we were holding our breath and looking at each other with fear-filled eyes. Mr. Patacsil slammed on his rarely used right-side brake, and with one eye on the driver and one eye on us and with a big grin on his face, he very calmly said, "Don't you think it is a little too cold to go swimming today?" And there was this big whoosh of air as we all exhaled at the same time and lived to drive another day!
