Mr. Roger Aksamit

About Me as follows:

After graduating from Wichita East, I attended Parsons College in Iowa for one year and then transferred to and graduated from SMU in Dallas. I then attended law school at UT Austin, TX and upon graduating in 1978 I moved to Houston, TX and began practicing law. I moved from Houston, TX to El Paso, TX on a lark in 1981, but ended up living there 16 years practicing law. While living there I took a leave of absence from my firm and obtained my LLM in Tax Law in 1987 and also met my now ex-wife, Barbara, who I married in 1990.

Barbara and I have two daughters, Becky and Liz, now ages 21 and 19. We moved back to Houston at the end of 1997 and have lived here since, with me practicing energy tax law with several large Texas law firms. Barbara and I divorced in 2007 and since 2010 Becky and Liz have lived with me full time. Becky is a senior at the Tisch Film School at NYU in New York City and will be working in New York when she graduates later this year. Liz is a sophomore at Southwestern University in Georgetown, TX, which happens to be the same city where my sister and her husband are retired and reside as well as where my significant other's parents live. So, very convenient to have so much family in one spot. I have a long-suffering significant other, Gina Goldberg, who has two unmarried adult sons who live in the Washington D.C. area. Gina is a former founding executive with Showtime Entertainment but retired from there several years ago, moved back from NYC to Houston (where we met), and now consults on marketing matters.

I serve an the managing partner of my law firm's Houston office, serve on my law firm's management committee and am extensively involved in the management of the law firm. I am very involved in local civic, charitable and cultural organizations and run a real estate development business on the side (www.mod-fab.com). We have fun as a family and are fortunate to be able to travel extensively and enjoy a beach/bay house in Galveston on the weekends, where we surf, fish, jetski, boat, kayak and paddleboard. Both girls are very involved with activities and sports at school and play lacrosse and soccer. We have a mini-labradoodle named Hendrix after Jimmy Hendrix, who is the most laid-back dog on the planet.

Both of my parents, Frank and Becky, are now deceased. Dad died in 2012 at age 90 and Mom died in 2013 at age 90. 2013 was the last time I was in Wichita in connection with my Mom's funeral and memorial service.
