Just a brief update, I'm semi-retired. I have a part time job as a sales person and office worker for Oreck Clean Home of Wichita. I haven't been able to work, however, for the last few months due to injuries sustainned in a car accident. On June 6th, 2018 I was crossing the street, with the walk light, and was hit by a car. They knocked me down. I got up and they knocked me down again. By the time they came to a ful stop, everything below my shoulders was underneath their car. I had multiple broken bones and both lungs were punctured and collapsed. I had blood clots in both legs and one lung, for which they put me on blood thinner medicine. The first one of which I was allergic to. At some point in time I developed pneumonia and was put on a ventilator. I didn't know it at the time, but, my primary care physician told me, when I first saw him after the accident that there is no Earthly reason for me to even be alive (the hand of God)! I spent about six weeks in the hospital followed by about si weeks in a rehabilitation facility, after which I went to live with my granddaughter for a few months. I'm back home now and can walk either with a cane or, sometimes, unaided. I still can't reach myu left arm as high as my right one and I feel like I have metal bands around my chest and ankles, but considering where I started out I'm much better than I was. I'm still hoping for a full recovery but that may still take some time. I still have a clot in my left leg and still am on a blood thinner for that.

In other news, my wife Karen was diagnosed with severe dementia in January of last year and has been in the memory unit of a care home since mid February. They have her on medication which has stailizsed her thinking but she still has memory problems and still believes some things that just aren't true. It is impolite to tell a woman's age but, since most of you may think she is too young to be having this problem I will tell you she is eleven years older than me, so this isn't too far out of the ordinary age-wise. They of course can't say what caused it and, unfortunately there is no cure.

I know this is all pretty much of a downer, but since it represents major changes in our (Karen's and mine)lives I thought I should pass the information on. Hopefully most of you are doing better.
