Today's Featured Biography
Diana Bourdier
After graduating from STM I got a BA in English from USL. I met Gil, who later became my husband. After he graduated we moved to Virginia for graduate school (University of Richmond for me). I got a MH (masters of humanities-I am fully qualified to be human. Whew.)
In 1994 we got married and moved to the Woodlands, 30 miles north of Houston. Here we've been ever since.
We have two daughters, both were born at home with the help of a midwife. I stay at home with them. They are wonderful beyond compare, of course, I am their mother. I may be biased.
I've had several projects these twenty years. Examples: a brief foray into body building, tried being a single mother of sorts when Gil went to Iraq for six months (none of us thought that was so fun), I helped manage a quilt store.
But my love is writing. I've had a couple of small publications (personal essay, poem). Though I write the occasional short story, poem, and essay, my focus is a novel. Good lord, will I ever get it done? Who can say?
Since Gil will not be at the reunion to speak for himself, I will write a little about him. Gil is a chemical engineer working for Aker Kvaerner. Before that he worked for KBR, which is owned by Halliburton, hence the Iraq thing. His hobbies include economics and Libertarianism. Twice he ran for Congress, the big one, as a Libertarian. Happy for me he didn't win. He and the girls are in Adventure Guides through the YMCA. It's a father/child program. The picture shows them getting ready for the Sweet Heart Dance, one of the favorite activities. The dads take their daughters out to eat and to a dance to show the girls how they should be treated on a date. (Sweet)
