Today's Featured Biography
Robert Ross
Since high school graduation in 1967, I attended Northeast Louisiana University and then the University of Southwestern Louisiana (now ULL) where I graduated with a BA in Psychology and Social Welfare with a minor in Sociology in 1975. Those 8 years of college were filled with part-time jobs and part-time school. I married Ann Wischmeyer of Indianapolis, Indiana in 1970. I served as a student and then a part time local pastor in the United Methodist Church from 1968 until 1975.
Following graduation from USL(ULL) in 1975 we traveled to Denver, CO. where I entered the Iliff School of Theology where I earned a Masters of Divinity. After gratduation in 1978, I was sent to the USL (ULL) where I served as the Campus Minister for the United Methodist Church and the Presbyterian Church at The Wesley United Campus Ministry. I had the joy of teaching two university classes (Introductionary courses to the Old Testament and to the New Testament) for 17 years. I was the co-founder of the Lafayette Habitat for Humanity which used my office as its headquarters until we acquired another place to establish an independent office.
After 17 years working with the University, I figured it was time to return to the local church. I served three years as the pastor of the First UMC of Arcadia before being assigned to the Horseshoe Drive UMC in Alexandria where I am starting my 7th year of service.
My wife, Ann, received her BS in Nursing from USL in 1975 and has worked as an RN in hospitals, home health agencies, and now in Hospice Care. She is a Hospice Nurse with Christus Saint Francis Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria.
Our son, Robert(27) is married and living near Raleigh, NC. After graduation from Duke University, he stayed in the area. Our daughter, Sharon(23) graduated from ULL in Lafayette and is currently working on her MBA.
My mother died in 1985 after she and my father moved north of Monroe to an area east of Sterlington on the Bastrop highway. My older brother, Cleatus, lives outside Benton, LA (north of Bossier City) and my younger brother, Bob, lives outside Jackson, Mississippi.
While I no longer have family ties to Monroe, my memories of Neville and Monroe will always be the bedrock of my life. This is where I learned so many of the life skills necessary for good relationships. I appreciate the excellent teachers and coaches who taught me more and more as time passes. I often wonder what has happened to some of my classmates.

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
