Help my 6 yr old daughter, a victim of sexual abuse. Please share, and get the word out.
I couldn't finish the video because I was overcome with emotion, but I will try to write what I was going to say.
At the end of the day, it's my daughter's life. No child should ever have to go through what my daughter has gone through. Not once, let alone twice. And if this man is allowed visitation, she WILL be molested again. I told the Department of Children and Families here in Brockton to not allow overnight visitation to my daughter's dad because I knew he was going to hurt her again, but they insisted to 'try it out and see how it goes". Sure enough he molested her again.
I am saddened that children have to go through this. Every child should be safe, loved and protected. Last time, my daughter was molested, was in August on the weekend of her birthday, 2010. For 2 weeks straight, she asked me why it happened, and was always on my lap hugging me. She wanted to know why I let it happen, and blamed me for not being there to stop her dad from causing this physical pain she was in. I cried and cried. It broke my heart. I made a promise to her that day. I said never again will I put anyone before you. I will NEVER let him hurt you again. And I'm not a person who likes to speak much, so this video was very hard for me to do. Trust me, I meant to say more, but I can't. I can't gossip and talk about other people like that. The words are so harsh for me to say out loud, but at least I can write.
I want to say sorry to my daughter for not standing up for her at first, and trying to be there for her dad instead. But after he hurt her again, I almost died. And I have no one to blame but myself. So to my daughter....Mommy is here. Mommy is human and makes mistakes, just like anybody else. There is no manual for how to be a parent, or for how to live life for that matter. But I will do my best forever & always. If Mommy has to go to Law School to learn how to defend you, then mark my words, that is what I will do.
