After student teaching in Whitingham, Vt was drafted in the Fall of 1970. Enlisted for three years to be able to choose an MOS, digital communications specialist. Completed basic training at Fort Dix, NJ and advanced training at Fort Gordon, Ga. Served with the Stategic Communications Command in West Germany at first in Karlshrue then in a detachment in Dahn near Pirmasens for two and a half years.
Returned home in Fall of 1973 and worked for the Post Office briefly as a carrier before being employed by Sprague Electric in their data center from 1974 until 1982. Married Jane Schechterle in 1976 and bought a home in the Greylock section of North Adams, where our sons Andrew and Eric were born, until 1982 when we moved to Shelburne Falls purchasing my inlaw's home.
Left Sprague and began working for the Frankin Country Hospital until 1984 in the data center. Accepted employment at Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power in Brattleboro, Vt from 1984 until 1995 also in computer operations. Our daughter Alison-Kate was born in 1987. Left Vermont Yankee to work at the Holyoke Hospital as a member of the computer support team from 1995 until 2004.
Began working for the Brattleboro school district at the middle school in 2005 as a technical support specialist. Moved from Shelburne Falls to Montague in 2006 then to a condo in Greenfield in 2018.
