Today's Featured Biography
Carolyn Fontaine Gorman
I lived 35 years in Berkeley, California, with a 4-year stint in New York City. In NYC, I worked as an enforcement attorney for the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). In San Francisco, I started out at the SEC and ended up as a partner at a great law firm. I was with the firm for over 20 years.
I was married for 20 years to Michael Klasco, a guy from NYC whom I met while I was living in San Francisco. I transferred from the SF office of the SEC to the NY office to live with him while he finished up a Ph.D. in electronics. Then we relocated to San Francisco for a few years and bought a house in Berkeley where we lived until 2001.
We divorced in 2001, and in 2002, I married the love of my life, Peter Gorman. Peter was deputy mayor of San Francisco for 10 years under then-mayor Dianne Feinstein.
In 2005, Peter and I quit our jobs and moved to Italy. We lived about 40 minutes from Torino, the site of the winter Olympics a few years ago. We lived in Italy for 7 years and had a fabulous time.
Last month, in May 2012, we relocated to the U.S. We chose Charleston, South Carolina, for many reasons, most of all because it is a complete change from living in the foothills of the Italian Alps. Now we have warm weather in the winter, seafood and the ocean. We have moved to the historic district of Summerville, about 25 minutes from downtown Charleston. Change is good!!
I'm curious about everyone and will read your bios with great interest.
