Today's Featured Biography
Janet Teters Snook
I lived 16 years with my husband on the road, traveling the roads of America, in our RV (see my slide show) 7 months of the year.
The 5 months of winter I lived in Florence, AZ. We have a house there, but "home" is our RV. I started traveling in 1996, when I marrying Jim. I returned to Bolivar each year to visit, usually in the Spring and/or the Fall. I am now resting in Greenwood Cemetery there in Bolivar, my Hometown.
During the 5 months in the winter, while in Florence, AZ, I worked as a Real Estate agent and owned my own company, Janet Snook Florence Gardens Real Estate, LLC, I sold properties in our Mfg'd Home community, of Florence Gardens, as well as the two RV Parks and two Condominiums communities in the same area. I had recently resigned as Designated Broker for a local office and started my own company. I was looking to lessen my responsibilities, and be able to provide better service for my clients.
Our 45th Reunion, in Bolivar, fall of '06 was very nice. Emma Mae (Kaudle) Mincks, Mary Jane (Kukal) Hubbert, and Jane (Skarvan) Otradovec spearheads the enormous work almost everytime. Kay (Hines) Long and I help when we can.
I was married to Bob Burks (class of '56) for 26 years. We have 3 boys and 7 grandkids. They all live in the Bolivar and Springfield, MO area. Bob died July 3, 2011.
I married Jim Snook in 1997 on New Years Day and he had just retired from McDonnell-Douglas Aerospace in St Louis, lost his wife Joan to Cancer, and was in the fulltime RVing lifestyle. He has two children, boy and girl and 4 grandkids in the St Louis area.
For 6+ years we traveled fulltime in our RV (that is, it was our only home), but came to AZ every winter. So, we bought a house there in the Florence Gardens 55+ community for the winter months and continued to travel for 6 or 7 months in our 5th wheel trailer RV rig. We go to Missouri in Spring and again in the Fall and always somewhere cooler in the summer, usually to our lot, in Nathrop, CO on the headwaters of the Arkansas River at 8000 feet, 95 miles west of Colorado Springs, CO.
I went back to work as a real estate broker while in AZ for the winter months, in 2003. I enjoyed it, but I was ready to slow down, so began in 2010 to just sell, through my own company, and provide the best service possible to my clients.
We went to San Francisco the summer of 2007, on our way to Vancouver, BC. That is a fun place to visit. We had lunch down on Pier 39. We had a goal that year to get a 'Generation One', Mercedes Benz designed, Euro smart Car ForTwo from Canada (Diesel), but settled for a gas model that is one of 1027 'Generation One' vehicles imported from Europe and converted to our US standards as dictated by Washington DC. It rides with us on our RV rig across the bed of our medium duty Isuzu truck right behind the cab in front of the 5th wheel trailer. It's cheaper and more convenient to sight-see, when we reach our destination now, than in the big truck. (see my slide show on this Profile page)
August of 2009 we purchased another 'Gen One' Euro smart Car, this one is a cabriolet and we love it. We have also adapted it to ride on the truck. So, we choose which one we will take and load it up.
The following is my Obituary which I prepared myself, as I died in 2012 on January 12th, with my husband Jim at my side, we loved each other as much as two people can. He took care of me through the last days of my life, as I would have him:
Obit to be added soon (Jim)

Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
