Today's Featured Biography
Jay Devers
Somehow I convinced Gretchen Lee Rust of Ames, Iowa, to marry me 11 years ago and we have three kiddos, Addison Lee (7), Robert (5), and Brynn (3). Although I left KC in 1991, passionate pursuits remain the Chiefs, the Royals, Indy-car racing and tons of golf.
To pay the bills, I started selling answering machines at the Best Buy at Metro North in 1990. Along the way I obtained an International Business degree from NWMSU. Although I left Best Buy for 12 years, I'm back with the company at our corporate office in Minneapolis, working on Best Buy for Business. I run BBFB’s national sales team, a small business solution team, and I do some corporate development work in the areas of strategic investments and acquisitions. This work takes me (and my clubs) all over the country.
I spent 12 years in Ankeny, Iowa, an suburb of Des Moines--corn, pigs, a good place to raise kids. There I met up with a couple Iowa fellows and we started Lighthouse Communications, Inc., known now as LightEdge Solutions. LightEdge is a national provider of high performance broadband voice, data, and IT services to over 3,000 small- to mid-sized enterprises. My role was sales development and operations of the company in addition to corporate development and investor relations. This was a fun ride--8 1/2 years of dot-com nuttiness. I also started a few other businesses in Iowa, including a consumer ISP, a real estate development company, and a garage-door repair and installation business. So I basically drove my wife crazy and avoided getting a real job for the better part of a decade.
Life is good here in the north woods. It's still a little cold for my taste. I'm very lucky to have an understanding bride and three kids who appear to be normal, in spite of their heritage. Best to all-
-JRD

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
