Today's Featured Biography
Larry Calton
Moved back to Missouri from Colorado to retire in March, 08; Spent first 28 years after of Hillcrest in professional baseball as a player five seasons and the rest as a TV & radio broadcaster from high schools, to college teams and Major League Baseball and the NBA. Later did radio talk shows, produced and hosted TV shows and commercials. Left broadcasting when I became a single father and went into sales for many years. Have been driving dirt track stock cars since 1975; was a snow ski instructor; pilot; golfer: and public speaker. My faith in God is the change later in life that saved me from a big ego, selfishness and taught me the meaning of love. I have four grandchildren, including nearly two year old Anna, who we have permament custody of. My daughter Aspen has battled drugs much of her life. My son Larry is a highly successful corporate owner in Frisco, Texas and the father of Ben, 8; Courtney 12 and Bailey 16. We sold our Colorado ranch and moved to Missouri for many reasons, including Baby Anna. My wife is from Pasadena, Ca. and is a Christian singer and song writer and mother of five grown children who are located in Denver, Vail, Boulder and Grand Junction, all Colorado. In retirement I spend much time on the golf course, lakes and rivers and in the fall and winter broadcasting high school football and basketball on radio and also am the stadium announcer for Missouri State University, West Plains. We travel a great deal, especially in the heat of Missouri's summer when we head back to Colorado, which is where I am writing this from. We'll return to Missouri when it cools off.
