James Capps
MASTER SERGEANT JAMES M. CAPPS
Master Sergeant Capps was born February 1966 in Ste. Genevieve, Missouri. Enlisted in the Marine Corps on the delayed entry program in August 1984 in Perryville, MO. and attended Recruit Training at MCRD, San Diego, California in September 1984. Upon graduation from boot camp he reported to Communications Electronics Training School at 29 Palms, California for instruction in the 2531 MOS Field Radio Operator, and was promoted to Private First Class. Subsequently he was assigned to 2nd Air Naval Gunfire Liaison Company where he attended Jump School in Fort Binning Georgia, and was promoted to Lance Corporal, serving as a Communications Marine for Fire liaison teams, and assistant team leader. Promoted to Corporal in June 1988, he was assigned as Third Brigade Training NCO for 2nd ANGLICO. In August 1988; Corporal Capps was transferred to Kaneohe Marine Corps Air Station, in Hawaii. He was assigned to 3rd Marine Regimental communications platoon. Corporal Capps was transferred to “A” Company Third Reconnaissance BN, where he deployed to Southwest Asia in support of Operation Desert Storm and Desert Shield. Upon his return from the Gulf War, Corporal Capps attended Navy Combat divers course Pearl Harbor Hawaii. He was then promoted to Sergeant in October 1991. Upon assignment to Communications Company 3rd Force Service Support Group Okinawa Japan, where he served as the Multi Channel Communications Chief, and was later transferred to the 31st MEU’s Marine Service Support Group. While attached, Sergeant Capps served as the Radio Chief and the Communications Chief for 5 MEU deployment cycles. In March 1997, Staff Sergeant Capps was transferred to India 3rd Battalion 14th Marines for duty as an Inspector Instructor Duty. During this time he was assigned as the Radio Chief, Data Chief, and Toys For Tots Coordinator for Reading Pennsylvania Area. In August 2000, Staff Sergeant Capps was transferred to MCCES Training Command, 29 Palms, California and subsequently was promoted to Gunnery Sergeant, where he held the billets of Multi Channel Training Course Chief Instructor, Field Radio Operators Training Course Chief Instructor, and Company Gunnery Sergeant for the largest Company in the Marine Corps, Bravo Company MCCES. In July 2003, Gunnery Sergeant Capps was transferred to Inspector Instructor Staff 24th Marine Regiment, and assumed the duties of the Communications Chief, and once again volunteered to be the Toys For Tots Coordinator, for the Kansas City Area. Master Sergeant Capps deployed with the 24th Marine regiment as the MARFOR Katrina Communications Chief in support of disaster relief operations in the gulf cost region during hurricanes Katrina and Rita. In June 2006, Master Sergeant Capps was transferred to Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune NC Communications -Information Technology Services Div. (CITSD) where he served as the Data Network Operations Chief, Communications Chief, and senior enlisted advisor for the Division. Master Sergeant Capps was then transferred to serve as the Business and Logistics Support Department (BLSD) Chief and Sr. Enlisted Adviser to S4-S6-BPO Marine Corps Base Camp Lejuene and G4-G6-G9 Marine Corps Installations East (MCIE). Master Sergeant Capps was reassigned in February 2008 to serve as the MAGTF Information Technology Support Center as the Communications Chief.
On May 22, 2009 Master Sergeant James M. Capps Retired from Active duty, and was placed on terminal Leave until 31 August 2009 when he was transferred to the Fleet Marine Corps Reserve.
Master Sergeant Capps's personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Metal, Navy Commendation Medal with gold star in lieu of second award, Navy & Marine Corps Achievement Medal with three gold stars in lieu of fourth award; and the Combat Action Ribbon. His personal devices include Navy and Marine Corps Parachute insignia, Combat Divers/Scuba Diver insignia.
MR. JAMES M. CAPPS
Mr. James Capps accepted a contract position with CPW Solutions, as the Operations Chief for the MAGTF Information Technology Support Center from in this position from June 20 2009 to 14 March 2010. On March 15 2010 Mr. Capps accepted a NSPS/GS-11 Civil Servant position and is currently serving as the Operations Chief for the MAGTF Information Technology Support Center.
Mr. James Capps is married to the former Kathrine Lee Kennedy of Westport, CT. They have two Children, Jessica 23, and Joshua 21.
