Today's Featured Biography
Dennis Secord
SPARKS, Nev. — Former Great Falls resident Dennis Charles Secord, 45, died Thursday at his home in Sparks, Nev.
Visitation is noon to 5 p.m. Tuesday at Schnider Funeral Home, with a vigil at 7 p.m. at Hillcrest Lawn Memorial Chapel. Funeral Liturgy is 11 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church (Sts. Peter and Paul), followed by cremation.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Secord of Sparks; stepdaughters Brianne Laurin, 24, of Napa, Calif., and Callie Laurin, 20, of Great Falls; stepson Kellen Laurin, 19, of Great Falls; his mother, Gloria Secord of Sparks; a sister, Marcia (Jerry) McLaughlin of Allen, Texas; brothers Mark (Debbie) Secord of Sparks and Wes (Mollie) Secord of Great Falls; and 11 nieces and four nephews whom he loved so much.
Dennis was born Nov. 17, 1959, in Butte, Mont., where he was raised and educated, graduating from Butte High School in 1978.
A Great Falls resident from 1978 to 2004, he had worked for Western Maintenance and as a mortgage lending officer, a position he continued after moving to Reno.
In 1982, he married Penny Shumate in Great Falls; they later divorced. In 1995, he married Mary Ryan in Reno, Nev.
Dennis had been a member of the Butte Silver Bees (football Hall of Fame). He had served on the Great Falls Golf Advisory Board and Board of Neighborhood Housing. His interests included golf, bowling, "Bar Olympics," and anything else he and Mary could do together. He was an avid Packers and Yankees fan.
He was preceded in death by his father, Wesley Secord.
Memorials are suggested to Holy Spirit Catholic Parish Building Fund, 200 44th St. S., Great Falls, MT 59405.
