Kenneth and I, both being native New Bernians have never left our hometown. We have always known it was a special place to live and now it seems everyone else in the country is discovering it is as well. I hope you will all plan to attend the Reunion this fall so you will see the beauty of all that has taken place over over the years as it continues to be restored to it's original charm. It may not have Clarks Drug Store or Gaskins, Kress or McClellans but it does have a great deal you can delight in and enjoy the memories of the days we spent growing up in this beloved community.
Kenneth and I are blessed to have both of our children here in New Bern, our daughter only a minute from our door. She works for Kenneth and is delighted to be back here after living in Raleigh for a number of years. Our son is only five minutes away, he and his wife Stephanie and our precious granddaughters Isabel and Anna.
Kenneth isn't retired nor do I think he ever will....thank heaven!! He does enjoy a less hectic schedule and finds himself enjoying being a 'farmer' most afternoons in Fort Barnwell where he and several other men own a farm. He raises chickens and goats, loves every minute of it, also has doves and pigeons. Gave up on pigs a few years ago as they were just too much trouble, almost killed him.
I'm not a farmer I'm afraid however I do enjoy the out of doors. I've discovered the joys of hiking in my old age. We bought a place in the mountains several years ago and spend a good bit of time up there in the summers. My sister Penny is there in the summer as well so we get to be neighbors for the season and we both enjoy discovering the trails around the Boone/Blowing Rock area. It truly has been a wonderful experience hiking in the Blue Ridge mountains.
I am involved with my church and with interdenominational Bible Studies. That is an important part of my life and find it fulfills me in a way nothing else can. I'm blessed to be part of a church that is like a family, Kenneth and I having just joined only recently.
Members of our Class of '61 meet each month at the Sheraton the first Saturday at 8:30 for breakfast should any of you happen to be in town to join us. Please come, it's lots of fun to get together and visit with one another. Hope to see you there some time!!!
God bless!! Please plan to come to the reunion in October!!!

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
