I've been working in Washington, DC for the last three years (2004 - 2007) as the head of Preservation Action, the nonprofit lobby for historic preservation. So I'm a lobbyist and an executive director, and do a lot of fundraising and public speaking around the country.
My husband and I live in Baltimore, MD. Before my current job, he and I lived in Seattle for several years. He's an architect; while there, I worked at Historic Seattle and for HistoryLink. Before that, I lived in Richmond while working on a project for the state cultural resource office.
I was in school most of the time before that. After graduating from Laney, I went to UNC Chapel Hill (1992), then got a Masters in the History of Art from Williams College (1994), and then a Masters in Architectural History from the University of Virginia's School of Architecture (1997). I've written a bit, including two books on buildings, and several articles about historic preservation and urban politics.
I visit my mom in Wilmington a couple of times a year.
