Today's Featured Biography
Dave Alspach
Following high school, I attended the Holiness Methodist School of Theology (later changed to Wesley Bible College) in Minneapolis. There I met Connie Blixt, who became my wife in 1961, following my third year in college. With the added financial and time pressures of a growing family, I was forced to drop out of college after beginning my fouth year. During the next years, I worked for Thermotech Industries in Minneapolis, serving as an injection molding press operator and set up man, a quality control inspector, and then as a tool maker in the manufacture of the plastic molds. In 1969, I went back to college, graduating in 1972 with a five-year bachelor of Theology degree, which included some study at Northeast Missouri State Teachers' College. Over the next twenty-five years, I served as pastor in five churches, the last of which was my home town church, the Evangelical Church in South Sioux.
Although, throughout high school, my major involvement in music was with the band, and only a little in choir, during the years since that time, I have been much more involved in vocal music, including solos, duets,(mostly with guitar), and singing in other small groups as well as choirs. Also, I served for a number of years as conference chorister, and directed a number of fine choirs. I have written a number of sacred songs, and on the edge of the music field, have studied somewhat extensively the subject of pipe organ construction. Music changed for me quite suddenly and drastically, when a light stroke (1995) wiped most of it out. Due to the excellent rescue team of South Sioux and our nearness to the hospital, my physical abilities were completely restored. Music has come back somewhat, but, of course, I wasn't really much of a threat to Pavarotti before.
My union with Connie has been blessed with three sons and a daughter, all of whom have shared in bringing twelve grandchildren into this world. Following retirement from pastoral ministry in 1997, I have been building homes with our oldest son, and if we ever get them all done, maybe I can get my pipe organ built.

Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
