Today's Featured Biography
Lawrence Cohen
After 3 years of high school, I went directly to college at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. I went there for 2 years, took a year off, and then dropped out for good in the middle of the next semester, never completing any degree.
In 1972, I joined a "spiritual cult" which became a focal point for me for the next 16 years. Although I no longer have any affiliation with that organization and have since identified some "issues" that I have with their approach, I view that experience as being very positive for me overall. During that time, I lived in many different places, including about 4 years in the Los Angeles area, and my primary activity was making music, developing my musical skills and knowledge in the process.
In 1980, back in New Jersey, my career (and my life) took a "sharp turn" when I joined a "progressive" bluegrass band called "Skyline" which included the great, internationally renowned 5-string banjoist, Tony Trischka. During the next 8 and a half years, we toured full-time in the U.S. and Canada, also going to Europe (typically a few weeks each year) and 2 short tours in Japan, made 4 albums and got to meet and play with many great bluegrass and folk musicians and singers.
Since then I have been a full-time, freelance musician, playing, recording, writing and teaching many types of music on electric bass, upright bass, keyboards and occasionally other instruments. In 1991, at which time I was living in Manhattan, I met my partner, Felice. In 1995, I moved into her home in Philadelphia. We now live in Bensalem, PA, northeast of there, with 2 dogs and a cat. I never did have any children, but Felice has 2 grown sons and 4 grandchildren. The last several years have been the best yet for me, and it just keeps getting better.

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
