Today's Featured Biography
Elaine Reding
It is delightful to see the yearbook pictures of our classmates. Everyone was so much younger and more beautiful than I remember. I would like to have gotten to know each person so much better. There is so much to appreciate in each individual.
My interests have been in music, business, and spirituality. I am a choral director and am celebrating the 20th Anniversary of my fine community choir this spring. We sing the full range of choral repertoire. The Catholic church choir I direct, performs for all the major holidays and are the sweetest group of community pillars. For over a decade I have sung with a fine chamber music group in Iowa City, the closest city to where I live. For most of my adult life I have been involved with classical music rehearsals three-four nights a week and although demanding, it is spiritual food for the soul.
I also have degrees in business and public administration. I work for a small, private company in the financial field and manage an intensive full time schedule there.
I have lived in New York, Cambridge, D.C. and in Europe. I moved to Iowa in 1991 to care for my mother for the last 12 years of her life and have been here ever since. My parents and brother have passed. Only a sister in Wilmington, DE remains.
I am healthy and vivacious, vegetarian since my 20's. I am a certified teacher of the Transcendental Meditation Technique for 28 years and give much credit to this practice for the blessings in my life.
I send my warmest and most sincere good wishes to all of my dear classmates. May your hearts be full with love, your minds at peace, and your days filled with treasured experiences. Congratulations on our 40th!
