2008 already! It's always amazing to me what a difference a year can make.
I'm volunteering again more heavily now that I'm getting used to sleeping through the night again. Our daughter is now almost 18 months old and busy but oh so smart! At her last appointment the doc was surprised that her vocabulary was so advanced already and hitting or surpassing all of her milestones. Her memory of things is so incredible that it only usual takes her one time to repeat something.

My son is still involved in the Nevada Opera Youth Chorus, Honor Choir, now playing violin (still playing around with his guitar too) and in school he's maintaining excellent grades (As) and in the Gifted and Talented program. We're getting him ready for middle school next year. My baby is becoming quite the young man.

We also have a 'new' daughter that we became guardians for late last year. She's 16 and also gets good grades. As a teenager, we don't see her as often (because really who wants to hang out at home when they're 16?) because we recently helped her get her license and a car. She works after school and will likely be getting back into volleyball next season. She's been a huge help around the house and where three years ago, we had hoped to have more kids and at least one daughter, now we have TWO!

As for my volunteering again (after all that!) my most recent adventure was as a county delegate at the 2008 Washoe County Democratic Convention. It was a nice experience and I was glad to have my years on the State PTA board under my belt so that I could understand the parliamentary procedure (and at times, the lack thereof) at the convention. I'm also serving as a member of the Parent Involvement Committee with the local school district and the bylaws Chair. I've also already put my name in the hat so to speak, for a board position at my son's new middle school.
I've also been asked by a good friend of mine to help him with his campaign for State Assembly as his campaign manager. I look forward to helping him work his way through the political process and hope that someday it will benefit me also when I move forward in the same elected direction :) I also run a large county-wide playgroup and co-chair a local charitable group for Reno Families in Need.
I still spend time in my yard working on the landscaping (which is an ever evolving process) when the weather is warm and if I get the chance, I even try to read some.

My husband has been with his company for three years as a Credit Representative. We love the company he works for with terrific benefits and a solid reputation as a fortune 500 company. He plays on their company softball team, kickball team and serves as a volunteer on their events committee. I call him their golden boy as he's involved in all of the company's charitable causes as well as advertising. He is also a board member with Council PTA and a team captain for the Relay for Life, an activity we all got involved in after my mother was diagnosed with and survived, breast cancer.

My mother has been with us since 1999 and while it's sometimes difficult taking care of your parents, I enjoy that I have the opportunity to spend time with her while I can.

I suppose you could say I'm busy and I'm loving every minute of it!
