Daniel Schemberg |
After a lengthy hospitalization, Danny Schemberg '54 passed away on February 25, 2015 Danny and his late wife owned and operated a successful service company in New York.
When his wife passed on, Danny relocated to Florida where, for a short time, he represented a pest control service company.
Danny's late sister Mollie Schemberg Fund was a 1945 TJHS graduate.

Today's Featured Biography
David Kristol
Upon graduation, I attended Brooklyn College where I earned a B.S. degree in Chemistry. I then worked at the Jewish Hospital of Brooklyn as a research technician. I was the chemist on the Kidney Team, where we had the second hemodialysis machine in New York City, for patients in kidney failure. I also took part in the clinical trials of the oral hypoglycemic agent [Diabenese] for diabetic patients, and a clot-dissolving drug [Fibrinolysin] for heart attack victims. During this time I almost completed my M.S. degree, but then transferred to New York University where I earned a M.S. and Ph,D. degree in Organic Chemistry. I began my teaching career in 1966 at the Newark College of Engineering [now the New Jersey Institute of Technology] as an Assistant Professor of Chemistry, eventually becoming Professor of Chemistry. I published over twenty papaers. I created the M.S. degree in Biomedical Engineering in 1981, becoming the Director of the Program. In 1988 I also became the Director of the Engineering Science Program, and the PreMed and PreDent Advsior at NJIT. In 2000 I created the Department of Biomedical Engineering, becoming Professor of Biomedical Engineering as well as Professor of Chemistry. I retired from NJIT at the end of December 2007.
