Today's Featured Biography
Tom Shachtman
Tom Shachtman has written or co-authored thirty books, has written, produced, and directed documentaries seen on ABC, CBS, NBC, and PBS, and has taught at New York University and at Harvard’s extension school. His most recent book, the well-reviewed RUMSPRINGA: TO BE OR NOT TO BE AMISH, is just out in paperback. A two-hour documentary based on his book ABSOLUTE ZERO AND THE CONQUEST OF COLD was broadcast this summer on BBC and on French television, and is scheduled for PBS/NOVA broadcast in the U.S. in January 2008. A companion article will be in the January issue of Smithsonian Magazine. He is a trustee of the CT Council on the Humanities, the Upper Housatonic Valley National Heritage Area, and The Writers Room in New York City.
