Today's Featured Biography
Jami Anson
NOTE: The slide show shown is just a sample of what can be on your profile page. This is "me" through the years and geez ... and what was I thinking in the 80s with the hair? I plan on revising it with more school photos, but I do need to go dig for them.
So any one of the alumni can load a video and slide show - it's easy - use www.youtube.com or www.slide.com and follow the step-by-step. If you do not understand, than just contact me and I will assist if you are having problems just email me at [email protected]
Now - I know - I've written a "book" below - but the idea is to show - that we can put really anything we want on your individual profiles - ok almost anything - no profanity or pornography please. It can be just a couple lines with links to your facebook, myspace or twitter pages or it can can have slide shows and type. Thats up to you as an individual. It's your page to update and enjoy.
Rich implemented the idea for this site and its a wonderful tool for us to be in touch through all the social pages (Facebook, MySpace etc... ) - it will bring us together and lets fill it with great memories - past, present, and future! I predict that we shall see many full profile pages in this site's near future (fingers crossed). And once the reunion is complete we will be loading lots of memories to carry forward. So get busy and update the Class of '79
EDUCATION:
Dutchess, SUNY, Vassar, and ongoing
PERSONAL HIGHLIGHTS: My friends and family - It is said you are a blend of your 5 closest friends and I believe I carry qualities from each person I love.
HOBBIES:
Gardening, Flea Market, Cultural Events, Photography, Travel, Rock & Minerals, Antiques, Flea Markets, and raising money to help causes I believe in.
REMEMBRANCES:
Mrs. Barnes and those horrid gym bloomers - "Porkies" here we come. Mr. Schwerdt and his Romeo and Juliet. Mr. Valentine and his ongoing civil war. Mr. Guess and his kindness in preserving things like pig fetuses in bottles on his desk and most of all his kind strength. Of course just a mention with my name being "A" - my desk was always right in front along with those bottles. Mr. Bachus and formulas - math that is. Mr. Passante's take on life. Mrs. Marsh and her M&Ms. May Days; Sit-ins; Washington Club; Plays - I even was in the senior play - me on stage - what was I thinking lol, Cafe et la Paix et Monsieur Rocco. Mr. Hinchey - well what else can I say - Mr. Hinchey. Mr. Wherry guiding those young minds. Mr. Dewitt and John Boy for their diligence in keeping the class out of trouble - the smart guys they were. Rich (Our Class President) the glue that has held the HHS pot of '79 together even to this day. Ms. Roumelis and her strength in design and opening doors for all of us creative heads - no matter how stubborn we were. Tricia and Betty and her brilliant writing and sense of Echoing and Spectuming - the Echo staff and all of those ads and t-shirt designs flying. Lou and the team- brilliant photography. Mike O'Halloran miniaturizing everything he could get his sketch pad on and Ande lecturing him to "enlarge, enlarge". Pam Hamilton's amazing sense of sculpture and 3-D. Tim Angell for his many takes on life in the Spectrum newspapers with caricatures of teachers I still hold onto and overall - his amazing, brilliant talent. May Day with Bob and Tim Mcing. Joi - remember when we won the ad design contest in the Huguenot Herald ?- yes I still have the photos - scary, I know. And Dani, Dani - you girl - you are an inspiration who has come into its time. Your art has exploded and I remain a proud bystander to the feat. Ande trying to corrall the art group (all our creative minds buzzing in different directions) into being the best. The now antiquated computer room with Sheldon, Rick, Logan - could you imagine if we had the computers of today back then? Donna, Terri, Marybeth, Sheila, Vicki, Lil' Lisa and Andra for their kindness to me always. Karen, Cindy, Tammy (you are missed), Ave and Cat with those slumber parties - Long Branch Saloon with Night Flight and carrolling parties with the "Gang" (including: Tom, Dale, Tom, Nancy, Borys, Jon, Mark, Paulie, Margaret, Debbie to name a few). Mr. Casper was always the great entertainment - clown outfit or not. To a Van Halen concert in a blizzard. Deej and "the girls" (Denise, Amanda and Jackie) what a growing up we had. Fun times sitting at the Smith's IGA with our melting ice cream cones and our dreams of what would be. The Senior Room drifting into the Art Room and so much more. The mural in the cafeteria. Pat Palladino - the janitor that would always be kind and say hi. Matron Betty who was always busy monitoring....Mr Rooney and his wood projects and on and on...
Memories of a great 30th reunion now have fulfilled 2009 and we are planning 2010's. My favorite memory was every bit of it - but especially working with the 79 SWAT Team and Richie. Joi and Cathy thank you so much for all of your hard work.
CAREER:
My work has always revolved around the design and marketing field. I've recently have made a great career move and am the Director of Development for a fantastic Not-for-Profit The Arc of Putnam. We help families through Ulster and Putnam County with Downs and Autism. My previous job was as Marketing/Creative Director for The World Peace Sanctuary. Currently I still also occasionally continue to create design and marketing work with Jadesign.
After 19 years of designing and producing Chess Life and Schoolmates for the U.S. Chess Federation, I decided to start my own design/marketing firm – Jadesign and from there continue the Peace Work with The World Peace Sanctuary. And now finally feel fulfilled with a great career as a Director of Development.
My client work is national and international also includes media/celebrity work. Awards revolve around design and photography. Design varies from business cards to books and magazines/catalogs.
HOME:
I am single, no children (still want tho). In search of my soulmate... Love living in Cintondale -as they say "Home is Where the Heart is."
My brother Kelly is a Blacksmith and Engineer. My brother Kip is a Massage/Physical Therapist and is Married to the most amazing girl from the Philippines - Sarah - LOVE HER. Mom is doing her historian thing (always blamed me for the family research after a paper Mrs. Marsh had us do on our Family Tree - My dad didn't even know his grandma's first name - now mom has our family back to the 16th century) Anyhow mom is writing her third local history book - this one is on the local civil war vetarans -and I am slated to design it (of course). Dad is such an amazing construction guy - his hands are so talented. And now he has a daughter with an house farm the 1800s. GO DAD. Every spare moment I am restoring my old farm house and gardens (slide show) from the 1800s with amazing Mohonk Mountain View.
It is an honor and a humbling experience to be a part of 1979 Highland High School alumni and reunion. And even tho I seemed quiet in school– If I had the chance to do it again it would have been a different dance. I treasure the friendships I keep from school and hope we continue to stay in touch.
I do have a Facebook page and we are hoping to make this Class of '79 page somewhere special that the whole class can enjoy and add to. I personally hope every one takes a moment to write a little bit (or alot) about themselves - remember to put your links and photos up and add us as a friend on your preference of Facebook.
Go to the home page - Featured links - Facebook book link can be found right there. Please post anniversaries, birthdays events any thing you'd like.
