Today's Featured Biography
Aimée Darmer O'Connell
Wow, fifteen years… can’t believe it. Since 1991 I have gotten my Bachelor’s in psychology from Geneseo and Master’s in school psychology from RIT. I worked at Holy Family elementary (Jay & Ames St. / Rochester) for five years, then the Charter School of Science and Technology for three months, then accepted a therapist position working with adults in the day treatment program at DePaul (Buffalo Road / Gates), where I worked full time until our daughter was born. I am very fortunate to be a full time mom now.
I met my husband-to-be in 1992 by means of a prank phone call and married him in 1998. I continue to enjoy life’s ordinary adventures, am deeply devoted to our Catholic faith, and still enjoy hockey… though I haven’t been to a game in a very long time. No, I never published any novels, but I still enjoy writing and have had various articles published here and there, and was a regular columnist in my college days. Two of my most enjoyable and offbeat life experiences have been my tenure as President of the International Society for the Prevention of Abuse toward Zeppo Marx (SPAZ), and being a goal judge/team publicist for the Rochester Junior-A Amerks back in 2000.
My tastes, for the most part, remain anachronistic, preferring older movies and television to recent productions, and listening to music from much older genres (Gershwin, Porter and the like). My television shows du jour are “House, MD” and “The Red Green Show.” I still enjoy DVDs of "Mystery Science Theater" and "Dragnet," and a host of cult comedy classics. Favorite authors are Scott Hahn, Henri Nouwen, Fulton Sheen and a wide range of contributors to Catholic Church history and spirituality, particularly Carmelite spirituality (as I am a professed Third Order Carmelite myself).
