Today's Featured Biography
Virginia Combs Nesbitt
I left for the Army right after graduation.
Then got married to Ray Delaney for 12 years. Was Navy wife and then we came back to Oklahoma, had four foster sons. Divorced before adopting.
I worked for Gulf Oil six years after graduating from Central State University in Edmond. When Gulf was taken over, I got laid off and began teaching. That is when the fun began.
I taught multihandicapped preschoolers a year in McAlester, OK. Same in Faxon, Ok for two years. Taught emotionally disturbed high school classes in Wichita, KS two years.
Taught emotionally disturbed juvenile delinquents in the mountains of Pennsylvania in a wilderness camp -private school for two years. Then I went to the wagon train with the same company. Met my second husband, Ben Nesbitt there because we worked for the same company. We married, honeymooned on the wagon train from Kansas to Florida - a real wagon train moving 4 miles a day with the juvenile delinquents. We got shot at twice in Missouri since most of the kids were inner city black from Philly and Pittsburgh. We got shot at again in Mississippi - no surprise there... Our students also marched in Selma, Alabama during the anniversary of that march long ago. I drove over that bridge many times going to the hotel and out to eat. Later we moved to Florida. Taught elementary school in Florida. Married five years. Divorced after his second heart attack. He was afraid he would have another heart attack if he stayed with me. He was just a year older.
Moved to Houston, TX. Taught two years at HISD preschool disabled classroom students.
Taught emotionally disturbed classes for Harris County in Houston one year.
Taught GED courses to adults at three places for Montgomery-Harris County Community College. Taught at the college in Tomball, the State Parole office, and a farm for juvenile delinquents just outside Houston in Humble.
Taught FDIC money management course for Americorps to Homeless Veterans for US Veterans Initiative from Los Angeles, CA.
I am now a retired disabled veteran. I had scoliosis since I was 16. It worsened over the years.
Writing, dating and visiting friends and family. Enjoy church and choir when I can get there. I am an aunt and great aunt too many times to count. Had three step children in Florida.
Hope to see you all at one of the upcoming reunions. We have two reunions coming up in my family. I got married at the last reunion in 1992. This will be our first since then - 7 of us will be at the Old Cowboys Rodeo in Stamford, TX at my brother Bob's. Then all 8 will meet in Pawhuska,OK in Osage county where my dad grew up. There is a state park there where we will camp over Labor Day. Would love to see anyone who might be around there at that time. Miss ya'all.

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
