Today's Featured Biography
Alexander Yacynych
I married the former Marilyn Ritzman (Richland H.S., 1968) in 1969. We had three chlidren, two are adults and are on their own. Tanya, our youngest, is a senior at Meyersdale Area H.S. She will attend UPJ this fall. I graduated from college (Point Park)in 1970, and from graduate school (Univ. of Cincinnati) in 1975. I did two years of postdoctoral work at the Univ. of Cincinnati and Ohio State. I started work at the chemistry department of Rutgers, The State Univ. of NJ (New Brunswick) in 1977. I retired from Rutgers Univ. in 1998 as Professor Emeritus of Chemistry. We moved from East Brunswick, NJ back to the area, and bought a farm outside of Garrett, PA. (38 miles south of Johnstown on Route 219) We have a large garden, chickens, dogs, cats, and we are enjoying the country lifestyle. We tap our own trees for maple syrup, hunt for wild mushrooms, and I brew my own beer.
In 2001 I started my own company, Electropolymerization Technologies, Inc. to license two patents that I hold. I am probably doing more work now than when I was "working," but it is fun work.
Best wishes to all my classmates!!!

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
