Today's Featured Biography
Edward Wolfe
Summer 1965 to spring 1967 attended Penn State University at Ogontz and University Park majoring in economics. Fall 1967 to Summer 1968 attended PSU majoring in electrical engineering. I completed my under graduate degree back at PSU from 1972 to June 1974 with a major in administrative management. Since then, I have had many credits toward a masters degree, but I never matriculated into a masters degree due to time and money.
After electing to enlist into the US Army vice being drafted in the spring of 1968, I started the trail to become an Army helicopter pilot in October 1968 and graduated in March 1970. Deployed to Vietnam from May 1970 to May 1971 flying UH-1H, OH-58A, AH-1G, and OH-6A helicopters. Last six months serving as a aero-scout pilot in the OH-6. Separated from active duty in May 1971 upon returning home. July 1971 to July 1975 member of New Jersey Army National Guard from July 1975 to retirement in December 1996 with the Army Reserves at NAS Willow Grove, PA as a helicopter pilot.
Four jobs as a commercial helicopter pilot. First in spring 1972 fighting forest fires in New Jersey. Next flying courier flights and the early stages of TV and newspaper flights in 1976 through 1977. Six months in 2005 flying Helicopter Emergency Medical Service flights as pilot. Five months in 2006 as a tour pilot in Kauai, Hawaii.
Main career as a logistician for the US civil service in Philadelphia starting in November 1977 to April 1998, and Tobyhanna Army Depot from April 1998 to retirement in January 2005.
My interests other than the obvious of flying helicopters and airplanes have been in playing tennis, riding road bicycles, driving sports cars and off-road Jeeps, fly fishing, hiking, and generally being outdoors.
Other than school and the military, I have lived my life in Pennsylvania in Bensalem, Langhorne, Albrightsville in the Poconos, and currently in Buckingham.
I have been married twice before, but in 2006, I got reacquainted with classmate Virginia Eyring, whom I married in January 2011. Ginny and I are very happy together and we both regret that we didn't meet up to date seriously earlier in our lives.
