Today's Featured Biography
Basil Riello
After graduating in 1966, I enrolled as a member of the first class at the Community College of Allegheny County on the Northside.
I received by A.A. degree from the CCAC and while employed fulltime, began work on my B.A. at the University of Pittsburgh (night school). I went on to get my Master dgree in Education from Pitt in 1977.
After teaching elementary school in Carnegie for two (2) years, I got into the Construction business as an administrator.
I have been employed on large engineering projects in various parts of the United States, Canada, Saudi Arabia,Indonesia, Iraq,Singapore, and currently in Kuwait.
In 1998,my Company transferred me to Florida and I have made my permanent residence there.
While I will always consider Pittsburgh as home and I miss the ethnic foods, restaurants, and neighborhoods, I do not miss the cold weather.
I have been married to Brigitte for the past forty-five (45) years and consider myself very lucky to have her as my best friend. We have two wonderful daughters (Lynette-housewife) and (Lisa-schoolteacher in Virginia). In addition, we have three (3) lovely grandchildren: Dylan (15), Chloe (9), and Haley (5).
Time has sure flown by. I have a hard time believing my class of 66 is on the brink of retirement.
I surely miss my days at Central Catholic and Shadyside, Oakland, my old neighborhood of Hazelwood.My Mom and Brigitte's Dad still reside in Pittsburgh and we try to visist them as much as possible.
I look forward to getting back home in the near future to visit some of my old classmates and talk about oldtimes. Until then, best wishes to all.
