Today's Featured Biography
George Daly
After graduation from Rogers High,I attended URI from 1960 to 64, then moved to Oakland CA. where I worked, then enlisted in the US Navy. I was stationed on the USS Hancock CVA19 (aircraft Carrier) from 1966 to 68 and did a tour of Vietnam.
I went back to URI in 1968 and completed a teaching degree in 1970. During that time, I married my first wife, Sharon, who was a Canadian.
Upon graduation,we moved to British Columbia, where we both taught school in the Vancouver area. Lots of biking, skiing, running and sailing during those years
In 1981, I became principal of the small elementary school in Whistler BC, where my wife and I had built a ski cabin in the early 70s. During the next 21 years, I was principal of schools in the neighboring communities of Pemberton and Squamish, but spent 12 of those years in Whistler. What a thrill to watch three of the kids I had taught compete in the Whistler Olympics, including Asley McIvor who won her Gold medal in Skier Cross! Whistler was a wonderful place to work and to live. By retirement in 2002,I had remarried, and my wife Sheila and I moved to the South Okanagan, the southern central part of British Columbia. I had been officially considered a "resident" of Canada til then, but became a Canadian Citizen in 2010. The last fifteen years have been spent enjoying the hot, dry climate in summers, the very mild winters, and lots of travel in between. I hope you didn't find this too wordy, but catching up on 57 years takes a lot of words. I carry many happy memories of Rogers High, and my hat is off to Mike Platt for helping to keep everyone connected.

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
