Today's Featured Biography
Tonya Frazier McNair
After leaving Wilson, I chose to attend North Carolina Agricultural Technical State University (NC A&T SU) in Greensboro, NC and majored in Mechanical Engineering. There I won a Corbest scholarship and worked as a Corning Glassworks Process Engineering Intern during the summers in Danville, VA. I graduated in May 1991.
I began my career as an engineering intern for the Department of the Navy, Naval Air Systems Command and became a project engineer for the Presidential Helicopter Program (Marine one) from 1994-1998. I then accepted a position as a Combat Systems Engineer for the International Branch of the Standard Missile Program Office at the Naval Sea Systems Command and led a multi-national, corporate team to develop the Korean Destroyer Standard Missile Combat System.
Currently, I'm a project engineer for the Missile Defense Agency and project lead for several missile/interceptor propulsion and power systems programs in support of the development and deployment of the Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS). All of the previous jobs have afforded me the wonderful opportunity to travel all over the globe, Seoul, S. Korea; London; Bristol, England; Rome; Hawaii; and every just about every state in the US. It's been fun.
While at NC A&T, I met fell in love with an Industrial Engineering Major by the name of Anthony V. McNair from Laurinburg, NC. We were married on June 14,1991. Anthony is a Cost Estimating Engineer for the Naval Sea Systems Command. We have two sons that are our pride and joy--DeMario 13, and Terrell 7.
