Today's Featured Biography
Regenia Broome Ashley
In 1970 I both married my high school sweetheart, Roger, and graduated from Winthrop College. After graduation I taught math one semester in Anderson District 5. I then taught seventh grade math at Belton Middle School one year before taking a two year break when our oldest son, Brian, was born. In 1974 I returned to BMS for two years before transferring to BHP in 1976. I graduated from Clemson University in 1977 with a Masters in Secondary Education.
Boy did we get a surprise in 1980 when our baby came out twins, Kristi and Brandon. During this hectic time Mrs. Pushard retired and in 1981 I became Chairman of BHP’s Mathematics department. Over the 29 years at BHP I taught every level of math from Resource Math to Advanced Placement Calculus (my favorite). In 2004 our first grandchild was born and I knew it was time for me to leave BHP a second time. I retired in May 2005 after teaching math for 34 years.
All three of our children are graduates of Clemson University including one with a doctorate. Our sons own and operate a local security alarm business and our daughter is in property management in Clemson. We have two grandsons, Walker (8-5-04) and Oliver (1-1-07). I keep them part time and love every minute of it. I am getting to experience so much with them that I missed with our three children because I had to work. Grandchildren are so much fun!
Roger and I have been married 37 years and live in Belton. April 6, 2007 Roger retired from Michelin in Greenville. It is great having him at home.
