Today's Featured Biography
Jan Murchison Rector
I graduated from the University of Tennessee In 1972 and immediately began teaching. I had my 2 children and returned to teaching in Knoxville in 1978. I taught 6th grade math for 22 years at Cedar Bluff Middle and retired from Knox County in 2001. Steve and I moved to Memphis for about 5 years and I taught in the middle school at Lausanne for 4 years 2003- 2007. We are now back in Big Orange Country where I'm a die-hard UT fan, win or lose. My husband and my son, who is in Newport News, Va, also graduated from UT. My daughter, who is in Atlanta, graduated from Georgia Tech which is my 2nd favorite school to root for. About the only Messick alum I see anymore is Bob Black. My husband cooks with him on a very fun Memphis in May BBQ team. We women just watch, eat and have a few drinks!! I like that setup!!
