Business career has beeen in retail management for 3.5 yrs., cropdusting 13 years, PC software teaching for a year and the music business as a manager and in sales for 10 years.
Music Career
Taught in Navasota for 1/2 year, Spring and Donna Tx. I was the Low Brass Instructor at Bethel College in Mishawaka, IN for 3 years. I have taught private lessons in Spring, College Station and Bryan, Cedar Bayou, Friendswood, Carrollton, Plano and Lewisville Texas and Granger Indiana since 1972.
All this time I never stopped playing tuba and have had a few private students all along. In Weslaco I played in the McAllen Town Band and did a couple of solos with them and I met Carol my wife. She is an oboe player. We married 6 months later and had 2 kids and now married for 18 years. I was also President of the band for 2 terms.
I am now teaching and a freelance player full time at age 50. I play tuba in a pro brass quintet Metro Brass and have formed my own, His Festive Brass, and I am playing in both till I get mine off and running. We do weddings, school master classes and concerts. I am teaching in 3 school districts in N Dallas teaching around 75 to 80 kids and loving it. My wife daughter and I play at Prestonwood Baptist in Plano and my daughter and I play in New Life Christian Symphony together as well. I have played and subbed in many community bands and orchestras throughtout my life and still love playing every day.
My wife teaches band and plays oboe, Dauughter (cello player) will graduate high school and go into fashion merchandising at North Texas. Son is going to go to SHSU and major in criminology, banking and drug specialities.
My playing and sound are better than ever and all due to my education at SHSU. Contact me if you like.
