Carl Kirtley
Hi Everyone:
After Graduation I was accepted by Texas Electric Service Company for their CoOp program. I worked the summer of '70 and started UTA Arlington in the fall. I lasted three weeks and dropped out, joined the Navy and began a new career...
On 5 November of '70 I went to boot camp in Orlando FL, followed by a school in Lakehurst NJ to be a Navy Parachute Rigger (Aircrew Survival Equipmentman) and then off to my first duty station in Corpus Christi, TX. After 4 years there I re-enlisted and transfered to Barbers Point, HI. Then I requested brother duty in Lemoore, CA, where I deployed aboard the aircraft carrier USS Coral Sea. Six months later I returned to Lemoore and at the end of that tour I re-enlisted and transfered to Pensacola, FL. After two years I was advanced to Chief Petty Officer (E7) for you military types, and transfered to Kingsville, TX. Three years later I transfered to Lakehurst, NJ to be an Instructor at the PR school, where I was advanced to Senior Chief Petty Officer (E8) . In 1987, I transfered back to Pensacola, FL where I met the Love of my life and married Bonnie Lou. And finally, in 1990 I transfered to the Aircraft Carrier USS Kitty Hawk, where after two yeard on board I retired back to Pensacola FL. Thanks to the Navy, I have visited Argentina, Chille, Phillipines, Japan, S. Korea, and Guam. I have Lived in Texas, Florida, New Jersey, California, Hawaii and visited many additional states. I have been a qualifed NAUI scuba diver, made 217 parachute jumps (the highest one was over Porta Rico at 13,500 ft out of the back of a C-130 aircraft).
My next adventure was College. In 1993, I started at Troy University (Florida site) and completed my Bachelor's degree in resource management. Graduated in 1996.
Worked as a Roural Carrier Associate (Part Time Carrier) for four years.
Finally I landed a contract job at the Naval Air Technical Training Center, on Naval Air Station Pensacola FL, working in the Administrative Office. For the last 11 years I have managed the contract for TRANSTECS Corp. out of Wichita, KS. I have 12 employees.
