After high school, I worked for NASA in both Houston and Washington, D.C. for five years. I then decided to change careers and worked as a Civil Trial Paralegal in downtown Houston for the next 20 years. I met and married my life partner, Charles Malinak, a 1965 graduate from Pasadena High School. We will soon celebrate our 45th Anniversary. We have been blessed with three children and six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, all beautiful, of course!
When our youngest child, Julianne, “left the nest” for college, we decided we would leave also! Charles had retired from IBM, my parents had both passed away, and I was really tired of my stressful paralegal job. It was then that we decided to sell our home on South Memorial Court in Pasadena and move to Fredericksburg where Charles and I both went to work for the school district. We both are recently retired and have started another new chapter in our lives.
Telling one’s 50-year post-graduation story is not easy to do in a few short paragraphs. All of us in the Rayburn Class of 1965 have certainly experienced days of joy as well as sadness; by this time, we have all lived, loved and cried, wished there were some things we could “do over”, and wondered what would have happened “if”. But for those of us who are still here on earth, posting tidbits on a class website, the one constant that we all share is our childhood school-day memories. It is for that reason that I like to stay in touch.
Living in the Texas Hill Country has been a joy. I appreciate the climate, the flowers, the trees, sunrises, sunsets and stars. I enjoy the peaceful lifestyle. I am incredibly blessed and I am incredibly thankful!
