Today's Featured Biography
Jackie Leath
Left Uvalde in 1962 and received two degrees from Abilene Christian College. First job after college was in Iowa; moved back to Texas in 68 and went to work for Texas Department of Mental Health and Mental Retardation. Worked in Abilene, Austin, and Mexia. Retired in 1998. After retiring, went to cooking school in Dallas and got a degree in 2002.
Hobbies over the years have been tennis, golf, photography, running, genealogy, and cooking. I have had lots of interests but have never been particularly good at any of them. My confidence has always exceeded my abilities. The joy has been in participating, not achieving.
I enjoy a blended family of five children and 16 grandchildren. The oldest is 17, and the youngest is three.
Our first home in Uvalde was 800 N. High. My father died in 1987, and my mother died in 2003.
My sister, Peggy, teaches school in Nowata, OK. She has two girls, ages 20 and 18.
