Today's Featured Biography
Edith Ward Turner
Life has been great since high school. I was married in 1978 to an Airmen in the USAF and was stationed in England where three of my children were born. After living in England, New Mexico and England again, I moved back to Mathews with the children and without the husband. I am now a Technology Instructor, teaching the K-4 students everything from word processing to programming. I attend church in Newport News and serve on the Deacon board, member of the Softball Team and the multi-media ministries as well as serve as the Christian Education Ministries Administrator and other duties. I also design and print wedding programs, business cards and other publications for several businesses. I have taken up digital photography as both a hobby and free-lance for a couple of newspapers and other civic organizations. I have had the opportunity to take photos of several celebrities and national and local politicians including, Presidential Candidate/Senator Baraak Obama, Jesse Jackson, singer Kurtis Blow, Senator Charles Steel, Dancer Denise Jefferson, former VA Gov. Doug Wilder, TV Host Tavis Smiley and many others. I also had the opportunity to attend and photograph the funeral services for Mrs. Coretta Scott King. Between Christ, computers, cameras and the children, I have a very full life. I have two wonderful grandsons. We love to travel as a family and spend lots of time together.
