Dr. Maria C. Riegger is Director of MCR Solutions of Virginia, in Fredericksburg, a consulting firm specializing in training in conflict management and effective communication skills. The services Dr. Riegger provides enhance leadership effectiveness, improve labor management relations and foster positive interactions among individuals. Her work in the areas of building communication skills and the principles of civility and inclusion provides the foundation for success in business, community organizations, academia, and personal relationships.
Formerly the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Program Manager with Washington Headquarters Services, Department of Defense, Dr. Riegger managed the agency’s conflict management program which included providing group facilitations, mediations, climate surveys, sensing sessions and training in conflict management, effective communication and civility, for civilian and military personnel. Previously, Dr. Riegger served as Branch Chief of the Federally Assisted Programs branch in the Office of Civil Rights, Food and Nutrition Services, U. S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). Her extensive experience includes conducting oversight of federally assisted programs at the national and state level, to ensure that USDA administrative processes across the United States comply with civil rights laws, and dispute resolution strategies to resolve complaints are implemented successfully. Her professional experience also includes teaching in the University of Mary Washington, the George Washington University and Georgetown University.
Dr. Maria Riegger holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish from George Mason University, Fairfax, Virginia, a Master of Arts in Spanish from George Mason University, Fairfax, Virginia, a Doctor of Philosophy degree from Georgetown University, and a Teaching English as a Second Language certification from the College of Professional Studies, Fredericksburg, Virginia.
Dr. Riegger has presented at numerous national and international professional conferences and published several articles about communication across cultures, and the benefits of ADR. She has also conducted sessions about the ADR process and the principles of conflict management as a key factor in ensuring positive interactions in all social settings. Dr. Riegger is dedicated to help organizations design and implement a positive cultural framework built on the principles of respect, civility, inclusion and effective communication to achieve the mission.
