Today's Featured Biography
Christopher Curry
[taken from business website]
Hello my name is Chris Curry and I am the founder and president of B.C. Lox & Keys, Inc. I started this business in May of 2005. [My wife Amy and I] are both natives of the Valley and currently reside in Harrisonburg. We were married in August of 2005 and had our first child Chaysen Wesley Yam Curry on July, 6 2008.
I got my start in locksmithing working for Brian's Lock & Key in Blacksburg, while going to college and Virginia Tech. I starting working for them in the fall of 1999. They trained me in most aspects of locksmithing including car opening, key cutting, rekeying locks, making keys for cars and installing many different types of locks. Most of my time was spent in the shop and on call for emergency service on nights and weekends. After graduating in May of 2002 with a BS in Agriculture Economics I stayed on with Brian's for another few years. In 2004 I moved back to the Valley to be closer to my family and to help out on the family farm. Almost immediately, people that knew I was a locksmith in Blacksburg began calling me to do work for them. So after working for a bank here in town for a little while, it became evident that I was better suited for locksmithing. In 2005, I bought my work truck and B.C. Lox & Keys was born. A lot of people have asked what the name means and where it came from. In college, one of my good friends was dating a girl named Chris, so in order to make a distinction between us he nicknamed me B.C. (Boy Chris) and her G.C. (Girl Chris). I started using this nickname for a lot of things including my e-mail address [email protected]. When it came time to come up with a name for the business I just used this name so that I would not have to change my e-mail address, plus I thought it was something different and people would remember it.
