Today's Featured Biography
Elaine Haworth Kim
Life has been good!
When I look over the pictures in the class annual on this web-site, there are many people who I would love to visit and catch up with as I look through the pages.
All of my class annuals were lost in water damage that happened to our house in 1980, (long story) and since then I have forgotten so many faces....until I saw the pictures here. It is so exciting to take a walk down memory lane!
After two years of college at Western and two years at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, I took a break from college. That summer,(in August of 1971) I married my long time sweetheart, Clifford Kim, who I met out at Birch Bay in 1966,(he was stationed there at the Air Force Base). After 35 wonderful years, we are still happily married today, and have two beautiful daughters, Sara, who graduated from Western in 2003, and Kelly, who graduated from the University of Hawaii in 2003, and is currently finishing up her Masters of Education in Teaching at Seattle University.
I have had the good fortune of extensive travel through Europe and spent six weeks in Russia in 1993, as Russia was beginning to open up to the modern world after the collapse of communism there in 1991. I traveled with Washington State University's, and the US Dept of Agriculture's 4-H program. In acceptance of an invitation from Moscow University in Moscow, a party of 4 of us traveled extensively throughout the entire country, to the children's youth camps in Southeran Russia just about 25 miles miles from the Iraqi border, and up into Yalta, at the north end of the Black Sea. Our journeys also took us up above Mongolia and through Siberia, and back to St.Petersburg, and finally back to Moscow. It was an awsome experience and I hope one day to go back and visit some of the wonderful people we met and see how far the programs have come that we started there.
My husband's family is from Hawaii, so we have spent many happy days in the Hawaiian Islands, as well.
I currently work at Ikea, Seattle, and my husband works at Boeing. We are both looking forward to retirement soon, and would love to do some more traveling.

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
