Married for 38 years: 16 the first time and 22 with my new bride, Carol.
I married Pat Borsheim after graduation and then bailed out of town for a 21 year Air Force career - Viet Nam, Spain, California, Greece, Italy and Oklahoma. (The best part of Oklahoma was in the rear view mirror.)
I retired in 1990 and then considered job offers in San Jose, Honolulu and Europe. Well, no contest: I came back to Everett.
Boy, did this town change in those 21 years!
I pushed a cab around for a while (not much career potential there). I tried the US Post Office and found it mind numbingly boring. There's a reason for the term "going postal".
I finally hooked up with the Everett Police Department and spent another 21 years there. Hey, I got to mingle with the Hewitt Avenue irregulars!
I thought I'd learned about the world until I joined the police. We got some real oddballs running around this town!
And now I'm thinking about starting another career, but I've put about zero effort into it.
I worked with the Providence Hospital security team for a few years before ending that career (a short one). It allowed me to renew acquaintances with my former clientele base in the police department.
We spend summers at our lake house in northern Michigan. Fishing, grilling, beer, etc. Tough life, huh?
